NEW DELHI - Hours after celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary, a wife was smothered to death by her husband who was tired of their constant quarrels and fights, police said Sunday. The man has been arrested.

Prince Kocher, 32 murdered Anchal Kocher, 29 in their home in Janakpuri in west Delhi on the night of Feb 25-26 by suffocating her following an altercation.

According to police, they became suspicious of Prince when they found injury marks on his right hand and arms during investigation. Moreover, all the household articles were intact and the children were at their grandparents house on the night of the crime.

“The accused soon confessed to killing his wife because they were not having a cordial relationship and he was fed up of the quarreling over petty issues. He himself had on two earlier occasions tried to commit suicide over the same issue by taking an excess of sleeping pills five years back and slitting his wrists around a year back,” a police official said.

On the fateful night, the couple again had a fight and unable to tolerate the taunts, Prince decided to kill her, hitting Anchal on her face before smothering her.

“The couple had gone to Connaught Place to celebrate their wedding anniversary Friday night, with their two sons, Sahil, 10 and Ishu, 6. On their way back they had dropped the boys with Anchal’s parents in Mahavir Enclave in west Delhi and went home,” the official added.
