Case against vice chancellor after singer’s complaint

PATNA - A case has been lodged against the acting vice chancellor of a Bihar university after a Bhojpuri singer complained that he misbehaved and attempted to molest her at a cultural function in Gaya district, police said Thursday.

Police have registered a first information report (FIR) in Gaya against D.P. Sinha of Chapra-based Jai Prakash University after a preliminary investigation into Devi’s case.

Gaya senior superintendent of police Binay Kumar said preliminary investigations revealed that the complaint against Sinha was true.

Devi, known for her Bhojpuri folk songs, alleged that Sinha tried to molest her, used vulgar language and made lewd gestures at her during a a cultural function at the Sambodhi resort in Bodh Gaya, about 110 km from here, on Feb 18. Sinha refuted the allegations.
