NEW DELHI - A mock drill was conducted at Parliament House Thursday morning to check the preparedness of various agencies in the event of an emergency in the heavily-guarded complex.

“The drill started around 8.30 a.m and it is part of normal security drill to check the preparedness of various agencies in case of an emergency,” a senior Delhi police official said.

He also said the mock drill ensures that the security system is fully functional to meet any eventuality, intrusion of any kind or any other possible incident and also assessing the response time.

The drill comes three days ahead of the budget session in parliament.

Various security agencies like Delhi Police’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and Delhi Fire Service (DFS) participated in the exercise.
