Car crushes pet dog, 12 injured in clash

NEW DELHI - A pet dog was run over by a speeding car driven by its owner’s neighbour in east Delhi, leading to a clash between the two families in which 12 people were injured, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place around 11 p.m. Tuesday in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri area.

“Around 12 people were injured, four of them critically. The critically injured people were are Ravi, Ashwani, Arjun and Sunil. Others have been discharged from hospital,” said a police officer.

The officer said that the incident happened at a crossing near lane number 15 and 16 of Tilokpuri area.

“A dog was crushed by Ravi, who was driving a Swift car. The owner of the dog and his neighbour, Arjun, got angry and the argument between them turned violent,” said a police officer.

Family members of the two also joined them in the clash, police said.

The officer said that the there was also some old enmity between the families of Ravi and Arjun.

The two families later arrived at a compromise and no case was registered, police said.
