CHANDIGARH - Four people who had kidnapped a two-year-old child from outside his house here have been arrested, police said Tuesday. The child has been restored to his parents.

Police said they had received a complaint from Dinesh, a vegetable seller, about his son Prince’s kidnapping Tuesday morning.

“The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs.500,000 from Dinesh. We traced the origin of the call and found that it was made from a STD booth in Sector 26,” said Chandigarh police chief Pradeep Srivastava.

“Two police teams raided various places and arrested the four accused, who confessed their crime. The child is safe and he has been handed over to his parents,” he added.
