Ambulance-truck collision kills four

ALLAHABAD - Four people were killed and one injured when an ambulance in which they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck here Tuesday, police said.

The accident took place in Utraon in Allahabad district, about 200 km from here, when the ambulance was hit by the truck.

“We are yet to ascertain the identity of those killed in the accident,” police inspector Balram Mishra told reporters in Allahabad.

“The injured is critical and unable to speak. He is being treated at a hospital,” he added.

“The ambulance that has been badly damaged bears a Gurgaon number plate. Efforts are on to establish the whereabouts of the victims,” he added.

Police are yet to arrest the truck’s driver as he ran away after the accident.
