Two held for stealing Punjab Police Gypsy

CHANDIGARH - Two unemployed young men were arrested for audatiously stealing a Gypsy van of the Criminal Investigation Department of Punjab Police, an official said here Monday.

Of the two arrested, Vikas Bhalla, 24, is a resident of neighbouring Mohali town and Deepak Kumar, 25, is an Amritsar resident.

“The two youth had used a master key to steal the Gypsy that was parked outside the Punjab Police Training School here in Sector 22. The theft was first noticed Sunday evening by a security guard, who informed the CID officials,” a police official said.

He added: “Two CID officials started following the tyre marks of the Gypsy and reached Sector 20. They found the accused were trying to tow the Gypsy away with an auto-rickshaw. They immediately nabbed the two and handed them over to Chandigarh Police.”
