LUCKNOW - Two officials who harassed a government employee here have been booked for driving him to commit suicide, police said Thursday.

Sub-divisional magistrate Sunil Chaudhary and ‘tehsildar’ J.P. Chauhan were placed under suspension Wednesday night on the directives of the state government for their alleged role in the suicide of junior revenue official Baburam Maurya.

Maurya’s mutilated body was recovered Wednesday on the railway tracks in Alambagh area. “It appears Baburam jumped before a train,” a police official said.

Police later recovered a suicide note in which Maurya had stated that Chaudhary and Chauhan were harassing him for a long time and the duo was responsible for his suicide.

“On the government’s directions, we along with district administration officials are carrying out a joint enquiry against the two officials,” an Alambagh police station official told reporters here.
