Woman looted right outside her house

NEW DELHI - The wife of a senior official in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) was robbed of Rs.2 right outside her house in east Delhi Thursday as she returned from the bank after withdrawing the money.

Usha Gupta, 52 went to a Canara Bank branch in Vivek Vihar Phase II to withdraw cash along with her mother and driver Sanjay.

As they returned home and Gupta got out of the car, two men on a motorbike snatched her bag and fled.

She raised alarm and some residents tried to follow the robbers but to no avail. Police were informed.

In her complaint, Gupta said the motorbike was without a registration number.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) I.B.Rani, the robbers might have been followed the victim from the bank. The CCTV footage have been recovered and investigations are on, Rani added.
