NEW DELHI - A primary school teacher was found dead at her home in west Delhi, police said Thursday. Police are awaiting the autopsy report to determine if the death was natural or a murder.

Seeing the house of Vijaya Kumari, a resident of Hari Nagar, locked for two days, the neighbours became suspicious and informed police. Meanwhile, her old servant also came on that day and found her dead.

“We rushed to the spot and found Vijaya Kumari dead,” said a police officer.

Vijaya worked as a teacher with a central school in southwest Delhi.

“In his statement to police, the servant said that Vijaya Kumari was on medication and after the death of her mother was feeling very depressed and had given up her medicines as well,” said the officer, adding that the matter is being investigated.

According to police, the deceased has no injury marks on her body. She is survived by her two brothers in Chandigarh and Bangalore and was reportedly unmarried.

“We are awaiting the post mortem report to ascertain whether it was a case of natural death or there is some foul play,” said the officer.
