Four Manipuri militants arrested in Goa

PANAJI - Four militants, including a woman attached to a Manipur-based militant group Peoples United Liberation Front (PULF) were arrested from a coastal village in south Goa Wednesday.

The arrests were conducted in a joint operation by the Manipur police and Goa police personnel, Superintendent of Police Allen DSa told IANS.

The police, however, did not reveal the names of those arrested.

We have just conducted the arrests. There may be other accomplices. We will be revealing details shortly, DSa said, adding that the raids were conducted at Cansaulim, 45 km from Panaji.

According to information available, the PULF is Manipurs only Muslim militant group. It is allegedly funded by Pakistans Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agency and functions along the Bangladesh border.
