GENEVA - At least 14 people suffered minor injuries Friday on board an Air Canada flight from Toronto to Zurich, as a result of heavy turbulence.

Seven people were hospitalized as a precautionary measure, the Swiss news agency SDA reported, and an equal number were treated at Zurich airport by medics. The most common complaint was bruised shoulders, medics said.

The plane entered a zone of heavy turbulence just half an hour before it was scheduled to land in Switzerland, according to airline officials.

Aviation reports said the plane was a Boeing 767-300.
