Many dead in stampede at Sabarimala shrine

VANDIPERIYAR - Many pilgrims were reported killed Friday evening in a stampede at the Sabarimala shrine where thousands had gathered to watch the celestial Makara Jyothi, police said.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred when a jeep ran into a group of pilgrims when they were returning after attending the pilgrimage.
