Five killed in Uttar Pradesh accident

MORADABAD - Five people were killed and seven injured in Uttar Pradesh when the tempo they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck here Thursday, police said.

The accident took place along the Moradabad-Sambhal route, some 300-km from state capital Lucknow, when the truck spun out of control and rammed into the tempo that was carrying 12 passengers.

“All those killed are men. All the injured are being treated at the district hospital, where the condition of two is stated to be critical,” police inspector Rakesh Chauhan told reporters.

The truck driver managed to run away after the accident. According to police, the victims belonged to Mainather town in Moradabad district.
