NEW DELHI - Former top cop Amodh Kanth has urged the Indian censor board to ensure that only the facts relating to the Jessica Lall murder case are presented in the upcoming film “No One Killed Jessica”.

“I have written to censor board chief Sharmila Tagore and urged her to ensure that only facts are presented in the film,” Kanth said.

Kanth had earlier asked the makers of the film to “only present facts”. He had also sent them a copy of Supreme Court judgement in the Jessica Lall murder case.

“Six months back when I came to know about the film, I sent a copy of high court and the Supreme Court judgement on the case to the producer and asked him to just stick to the facts. But I have not got any commitment from the film makers on the same,” Kanth told IANS.

Kanth said that he wants the facts to be presented in the film and he wrote to the film makers in the same vein.

Kanth was the joint commissioner of police (southern range) when ramp model Jessica Lall was shot dead in a night club by Manu Sharma, the son of a Haryana politician in 1999. The film stars Vidya Balan - playing Jessica’s sister - and Rani Mukherjee as a journalist, and is slated to be released Jan 7 next year.

Produced by UTV Spotboy, the film is directed by Rajkumar Gupta.
