Gang of inter-state gun runners held

NEW DELHI - Seven people have been arrested for allegedly running an inter-state arms and ammunition racket in the national capital region (NCR), an official said Tuesday.

Sandeep Dahiya, the 25-year-old kingpin, along with Vicky Sharma, 20, were arrested Monday. The other accused — Surender, 30, Anil Sharma, Surender, 24, Abdul Sattar, 22 and Mohd Asif, 20 — were arrested from various locations in the capital on different dates earlier this month, a crime branch official said.

After intensive interrogation, Dahiya disclosed that he and Sharma procured weapons from Bihar for around Rs.18,000 and sold them in the national capital region for more than Rs.30,000 or in exchange of stolen vehicles, the official said.

Five pistols, cartridges and two stolen vehicles were recovered from them, he said.

According to the crime branch, the gang was active in the national capital region with its activities ranging from Delhi to Bihar.
