HOSHIARPUR - Six minors, lodged in the juvenile home in this Punjab city, escaped Thursday, police said.

The accused children, lodged in the same barrack, ran away after breaking the grills. One of them is a Bangladesh national, according to the police.

We were informed by the juvenile home about this incident. We have sent police teams at various places in search of absconding minors, Randhir Singh Uppal, superintendent of police (detective), Hoshiarpur, told IANS.

The boundary wall surrounding the juvenile home is in a very poor state and demands immediate renovation and strengthening. Similar such incidents have happened earlier as well but the administration did not take any steps to rectify the situation.

Hoshiarpur is around 130 km from state capital Chandigarh.
