LUCKNOW - Two people, including a teenager, were arrested Thursday for abducting a minor boy for ransom and then killing him in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district, police said.

Narendra Kumar (19) masterminded the abduction of four-year-old Neeraj, the son of his neighbour, for ransom and and later killed him. Kumar’s accomplice was named as his 20-year-old friend Gajendra.

Neeraj’s body was recovered Thursday evening from the farm in Tilhar town.

Neeraj, a resident of Banda village, went missing Nov 4 after he had gone to visit a fair on the outskirts of the village.

“After Neeraj went missing, Neeraj’s parents started receiving ransom calls on their mobile phone. With the help of the electronic surveillance, we managed to trace the teenager and his friend, who had abducted Neeraj,” police inspector Mani Ram Kumar told reporters in Shahjahanpur, some 150-km from Lucknow.

“The two have confessed to their crime. They have also admitted that one of their friends also assisted them in committing the crime. We are yet to trace him,” he added.
