PANCHKULA - Himachal Pradesh Police with their Haryana counterparts here Sunday arrested a woman for selling a minor girl, police said.

According to police, the woman was identified as Anju alias Anjana, who lives in Chakki village here with her husband and her four-year-old son.

“We received a complaint from Babli, a resident of Chamba district (in Himachal Pradesh), that her daughter has been kidnapped,” Mahinder Singh, assistant sub-inspector of Himachal Pradesh Police, said in Panchkula, some 10 km from Chandigarh.

After investigations, the police traced the minor girl to the house of Mahender Singh in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district.

“Mahender told us that a woman had sold him the child for Rs.10,000. We took the mobile number of the woman and traced her. We suspect that more people are involved in this human trafficking racket,” he added.

Mahender and his three relatives were arrested, police said.
