Earthquake In Delhi: Tremors Felt

(Gaea Times.com)- On Saturday September 18, AT 12:51 am the people in Delhi felt the ground trembling, something which was not normal and there was immediately fear in the minds of the people which jumped rightly to the worst conclusion, earthquake. The panic though did not last long as luckily for them the earthquake in Delhi was of a moderate nature. No casualties and damages have been reported in Delhi.

The earthquake in Delhi is estimated to be that of a moderate nature, a blessing for the people as had there been a stronger earthquake in Delhi most of the city would have experiencing a terrible fate right now. The earthquake reportedly has an intensity of 6.5 on the Richter scale and had hit the Hindu Kush area of Jammu and Kashmir and the tremors were felt in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and many other parts of Northern India. The tremors are reported to have lasted for less than a minute and no damage was reported. The tremors were felt in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan as well.

The tremors were also felt in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh and has left many people in North India worried. The earthquake had struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan and the tremors were felt in some regions of Pakistan and North India. Till now no damage or casualty has been reported from the earthquake in Delhi or any other parts of North India. The Richter scale is used to measure earthquakes and any earthquake of more than 7 on the Richter scale is capable of doing serious damage but the one felt on Saturday around midnight had a intensity of 6.5 on the Richter scale.
