RIO DE JANEIRO - A small plane with eight people on board crashed in northeast Suriname, Xinhua reported.

The two-engine Antonov of Blue Wings airlines crashed Saturday in a dense forest, 300 km southeast of Paramaribo, the Suriname capital.

According to aviation officials, the plane crashed due to bad weather, which also halted the search operation.

The plane with two pilots and six passengers aboard was flying to the capital after taking off from Godo Holo airport at 1500 GMT.
